Seahawks Legend Bobby Wagner Joins Storm Ownership Group

The Seattle Storm announced Wednesday that Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner has joined the WNBA franchise's ownership group, making him the first active NFL player to hold equity in a WNBA team. Wagner, 35, spent the first 10 seasons of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, earning six first-team All-Pro honors and helping lead the team to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII. The franchise is now valued at $325 million, up from a reported $130 million in 2024, according to Bloomberg.

Wagner acquired an undisclosed minority stake in the franchise, which is currently owned by Force 10 Hoops LLC, composed of Seattle businesswomen Dawn Trudeau, Lisa Brummel, and Ginny Gilder, along with former Storm player Sue Bird. Storm co-owner Lisa Brummel stated that Wagner "shares our desire to grow the game and knows the value and importance of investing in women's sports." Wagner's investment aligns with a growing trend of athletes and celebrities investing in women's professional sports, including recent ownership group formations for WNBA expansion teams in Detroit and Kansas City.
