Takashi Murakami has spent two decades putting his smiling flower on other people's products. Ohana Hatake is the version he owns outright. The artist's independent footwear label released a second Full-Bloom "Multicolor" collection on June 10, adding Turquoise/Blue/Green and Black/Blue to its slip-on.
The shoe
The Full-Bloom slip-on carries Murakami's signature smiling-flower motif on a wearable EVA build. Collection II keeps the construction and swaps the palette: a softer EVA footbed, a traction-focused outsole, and a water-friendly, easy-clean design. It is a cartoon made functional.
The model
What makes Ohana Hatake interesting is the ownership. Murakami's biggest fashion footprint came through collaboration — most recently the Louis Vuitton x Murakami Chapter Three revival — where the brand holds the rights and the artist supplies the art. Ohana Hatake flips that: a direct-to-consumer label where Murakami controls the IP, the product, and the drop cadence.
Why it matters
Collection II, arriving weeks after the first, signals this is a rollout, not a one-off — an artist building a standalone product line rather than renting his motifs to luxury houses. The flower is finally his storefront.
