After more than two years since Season 3 concluded, Ted Lasso is officially back in production for its highly anticipated fourth season. Apple TV+ confirmed that filming has kicked off with Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift reuniting for the beloved comedy series.
The first-look image released by Apple shows the core quartet sitting together at a restaurant, with all four cast members looking lovingly at each other around the dinner table. Apple CEO Tim Cook shared the news on social media, posting "From biscuits to BBQ: Ted Lasso Season 4 kicks off production in Kansas City!"

A New Challenge: Coaching the Women's Team
The official logline for Season 4 reveals Ted's biggest challenge yet: "Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would."
This direction isn't entirely surprising to fans who paid close attention to Season 3's finale. The seed was planted when Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) suggested to Richmond owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) that the club start a women's team. Jason Sudeikis confirmed this plot direction on the New Heights podcast, stating that "Ted's coaching a women's team" in Season 4.
The Gang's All Here (Mostly)
Six original cast members are confirmed to return: Emmy winners Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein, along with Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. These characters were all part of AFC Richmond's management and coaching staff, which explains their natural return to the story.
However, there are some notable changes. Other original cast members who portrayed players on the men's team, including Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) and Cristo Fernández (Danny Rojas), have had conversations about returning for guest appearances rather than as regulars. Grant Feely, who played young Luke Skywalker in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, is taking over the role of Ted's son Henry in a recasting.
Fresh Faces Join Richmond
New cast members joining Season 4 include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely, though their character details are being kept under wraps.
Behind the scenes, comedy veteran Jack Burditt ("Nobody Wants This," "Modern Family," "30 Rock") has joined as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV+, bringing extensive sitcom experience to help guide this new chapter.
From Kansas City to London
While production began in Kansas City, additional filming will take place in London, maintaining the show's authentic British football atmosphere. The Kansas City scenes likely represent the beginning of Season 4, where Ted has been living since returning to the U.S. at the end of Season 3, with Rebecca, Keeley, and Leslie potentially making the journey to recruit him for the women's team coaching position.
A Juggernaut Returns
"Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief," said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+.
Star and executive producer Jason Sudeikis captured the season's theme perfectly: "As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap,' in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."
When Can We Expect Ted's Return?
While no official release date has been announced, production timelines suggest new Ted Lasso episodes are unlikely to arrive in 2025, with a 2026 debut appearing more realistic. The series will continue to stream exclusively on Apple TV+.
Ted Lasso's original three seasons earned 61 Emmy nominations and won 13, including back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series awards and consecutive wins for both Sudeikis and Goldstein. With this impressive track record and the beloved characters returning for new adventures, Season 4 promises to deliver more of the warmth, humor, and optimism that made Ted Lasso a global phenomenon.
