Hot 97 announced Monday that The Kid Mero will host the station's new morning show, Hot 97 Mornings with Mero, premiering Tuesday, January 13, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET. The Bronx-born comedian and cultural commentator takes over the coveted morning slot following the December cancellation of Ebro in the Morning, which ran for 13 years.
Mero brings his signature commentary on culture, sports, music, and current events to New York's #1 multicultural station. The show will feature conversations with artists, athletes, and influencers across Hot 97's radio and digital platforms.
"Hot 97 is the station—it's been the voice of NYC hip-hop and culture for decades," Mero said in a statement. "I grew up listening to Hot 97, so to get the morning slot here isn't just a job—it's a responsibility to continue that legacy while bringing it into this next era of media."
The New York Times best-selling author and Writers Guild Award winner gained national prominence co-hosting Desus & Mero on Showtime from 2019 to 2022. The late-night series earned critical acclaim for bringing fresh Black and Latino perspectives to late-night television, featuring high-profile interviews with President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Denzel Washington, and Derek Jeter. The show ended in July 2022 after four seasons when the duo decided to pursue separate creative endeavors.
Since the split, Mero has hosted Victory Light with The Kid Mero and co-hosts 7PM in Brooklyn with NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony. He now returns to New York radio with Hot 97's full support.

Hot 97 Mornings with Mero airs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET on Hot 97 and all digital platforms.
