Tom Sachs and NikeCraft are releasing a black leather version of the General Purpose Shoe, the "Demerits," on Sept. 30 for $120. The pair (style code FZ1363-002, Black/White-Team Royal-Team Orange-Gum Dark Brown) drops at 2 p.m. on Nike SNKRS, where it is listed at $119.99, and through select retailers in unisex sizing. Nice Kicks lists a Sept. 23 date for the Tom Sachs store ahead of the Sept. 30 global release.
What the name means
A demerit is a point against a student's record for breaking a rule. Sachs explains the name on the Tom Sachs store product page: "I was almost expelled from high school for wearing my soccer shoes to class instead of the all-black dress shoes that were required by school policy. That's when I figured out I could just color in the white swoosh with a marker to avoid demerits." The upper is mostly black leather with white leather Swooshes.
The build
- Upper: ECCO leather, with perforated black leather on the upper and black pebbled leather on the toe, heel and lace panel
- Sole: three-piece molded cupsole with a rubber outsole, gum rubber midsole and EVA foam core
- Details: blue nylon herringbone pull straps on the tongue and heel, a microfiber collar and "NIKE" embroidered in Sachs' handwriting on the heel

Where the GPS came from
The General Purpose Shoe first released on June 10, 2022 in Light Cream/White-Light Bone (DA6672-200) for $110, and restocked twice that year, per Sneaker Bar Detroit. It sits in the NikeCraft line alongside the Mars Yard, which Sachs and Nike updated with the Mars Yard 3.0 in 2025 (more on the 3.0's construction here). Earlier this year, the NikeCraft Bricolage led the April 14 Daily Roundup.
