The Minnesota Vikings fired General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on Thursday, approximately four weeks after the team finished the 2025 season with a five-game winning streak but failed to make the playoffs.
The Vikings announced the decision through a statement from owners Mark and Zygi Wilf: "Following our annual end-of-season organizational meetings over the last several weeks and after careful consideration, we have decided it is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations."
Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski will lead the Vikings' front office through the 2026 NFL Draft. The organization plans to conduct a search for a new general manager after the draft concludes.
Adofo-Mensah served as Vikings GM for four years after being hired in January 2022, the same cycle that brought head coach Kevin O'Connell to Minnesota. He received a multi-year contract extension in May 2025, as did O'Connell.
The 2025 season ended in disappointment for Minnesota, which missed the playoffs despite being considered a Super Bowl-ready roster. The team's quarterback situation proved problematic: rookie J.J. McCarthy, who missed his entire 2024 season with a knee injury, struggled in his first year as starter. The Vikings signed veteran Carson Wentz less than two weeks before the regular season as their backup option.
Former Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, who led Minnesota to 14 wins in 2024 before leaving in free agency, is currently preparing to play in Super Bowl LX with the Seattle Seahawks.
During Adofo-Mensah's tenure, the Vikings posted a 34-17 regular season record but failed to win a playoff game.
