Jordan Brand is bringing the Air Jordan 3 "True Blue" back to a wide US release on July 18, 2026 for $230, the first time the original 1988 colorway has had a broad American drop in a decade. It lands on the SNKRS app and at select Jordan Brand retailers under style code IF4396-102.

The Air Jordan 3 is the hinge point of the whole line. It was the first Jordan designed by Tinker Hatfield, the first to show visible Air in the heel, the first to wear the gray elephant print, and the first to carry the Jumpman logo. "True Blue" is one of the colorways Michael Jordan laced up during that 1988 season, and among the original makeups it is the one defined by the elephant print running across the mid-panel eyelet rather than the toe and heel.

This 2026 edition recreates that 1988 build: a white leather upper, True Blue accents on the collar and tongue, cement-gray elephant print, and the full colorway listed as White/Varsity Red/True Blue/Cement Gray/Anthracite. The "True Blue" has been reissued before, in 2001, 2011, and 2016, and it was the 2016 run that restored the original Nike Air branding to the heel after years of Jumpman-only retros.

The timing is the read. Jordan Brand spent the back half of the 2010s leaning on celebrity collaborators and loud makeovers to move the AJ3; over the past year it has tilted back toward period-correct heritage, the same instinct behind the Air Jordan 5 "White Metallic" that returned with Nike Air on the heel. Nike's own 2025 SNKRS recap showed the Air Jordan 11 "Gamma" finishing as the year's most popular release, ending Travis Scott's multi-year grip on the top spot. A clean $230 "True Blue" retro is Jordan Brand betting that the OG itself, not a co-sign, is what still carries the silhouette.

It is also a familiar makeup for collectors, who last saw a related two-shoe drop in the 2023 "True Blue and Copper" pairing. The difference this time is fidelity: 2026's version is pitched as the straight 1988 recreation rather than a remix.
