Converse will release the SHAI 001 Lace Up in a "Cheetah" colorway on September 3, priced at $120 for adult sizing and $100 for kids, according to Sneaker Bar Detroit. It's the third and final colorway in the Lace Up's closing run, and the last SHAI 001 shoe Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will put out before he moves to a new signature deal with Nike Basketball, according to Sole Retriever.
The Cheetah pairs a tan and beige base with Volt green paneling across the upper, a sky blue liner at the collar, and a tawny, spotted cheetah-coat print on the tongue — the detail that gives the colorway its name, per Sole Retriever. Style code A24961C covers adult sizing; A24986C covers the grade-school run, also per Sole Retriever's product listing. The shoe carries Nike Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot and a radial-traction outsole, per Hypebeast.
Gilgeous-Alexander is already listed as a Nike Basketball athlete, according to House of Heat, which is why Converse is treating the Lace Up as a send-off. House of Heat also reports the run is "a first for his signature sneaker series" on kids' sizing, and that Converse commissioned artist Jacob Rochester for a hand-drawn sketch of the Berry colorway to mark the occasion.
The Lace Up reworks the original SHAI 001, Gilgeous-Alexander's debut signature shoe with Converse, swapping its zippered shroud for traditional lacing while keeping the puffed, molded upper. All three colorways in the closing run carry kids' sizing at the $100 price point. Lime and Berry, the two colorways that opened the run on August 14, share the same $120 adult and $100 kids pricing as Cheetah — Sneakers Cartel describes Berry as a "vivid pink upper with beige collar detailing" and Lime as "a volt and grey mix."
Gilgeous-Alexander closes out his Converse run coming off a second straight MVP season, detailed in Uristocrat's recap of the Thunder's 64-18 campaign, and after wearing custom looks in the NBA's playoff tunnel this spring. Converse's last SHAI 001 colorway before this closing run, "Premium Ink," released in May at $150 — $30 more than the Lace Up's $120 retail, reflecting the redesign's simpler, zipper-free build.
The Cheetah releases September 3 on Converse.com and at select retail partners, in both adult and kids' sizing.
