Instagram has added the ability to rearrange photos and videos in a carousel post after it has already been published. The feature was confirmed by Instagram head Adam Mosseri and began rolling out on March 24.
To reorder a carousel, users tap the three-dot menu on the post, select Edit, then drag items into the desired order before saving. There is no time limit on when the edit can be made. The update did not require an app download — it activated server-side.
The feature applies only to carousels posted after the rollout began. Users cannot add new media to an existing carousel through the edit interface. For older posts, the only available edit option remains deletion of individual slides. Regional availability may vary by a few days.
