Key Points

  • KidSuper designed a limited capsule for HBO's "Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness."
  • The anchor piece is a custom letterman jacket, with a cap, keychain, and more apparel.
  • Graphics apply KidSuper's hand-drawn style to colonial-era, patriotic imagery.
  • Pre-order opened July 2 at kidsuper.com, timed to the Fourth of July weekend.

KidSuper has made the merch for Larry David's history lesson. Colm Dillane's label designed a limited-edition capsule for HBO's "Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness," translating the show's satirical take on the American past into a small run of wearable pieces built specifically for the series.

The collection is anchored by a custom letterman jacket, alongside a baseball cap, a keychain, and additional apparel and accessories. The graphics are the point: KidSuper runs its hand-drawn signature over colonial-era imagery, historical figures, and patriotic iconography, turning the stuff of textbooks and battlefield reenactments into streetwear rather than literal costume. "KidSuper loves merging fashion with comedy," Dillane said of the tie-up. "Having the opportunity to be part of Larry David's new project was incredibly exciting." Pre-orders opened July 2 at kidsuper.com, deliberately timed to the Fourth of July weekend.

The show is the occasion. "Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness" is David's first project since Curb Your Enthusiasm — a seven-episode, largely improvised sketch series romping through American history for the country's 250th, produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground. It premiered June 26 and runs weekly to an August 7 finale.

The read: this is prestige-TV marketing borrowing the streetwear drop. A network could have printed a promo tee; instead HBO handed the show's visual identity to a designer with real cultural cachet and let the capsule do the talking, pre-order model and all. It is familiar ground for Dillane, who built KidSuper on merging fashion with comedy and spectacle — the same instinct behind his 48-nation KidSuper x BAPE World Cup pack. Pointing that sensibility at Larry David's Americana satire, on the one weekend the country is most self-serious about its founding, is the joke and the merchandising strategy at once.
