September 11 lands a lighter-than-usual slate after the Labor Day pullback, but it's a real one: Jhené Aiko closes a six-year gap between albums, two independent-to-major street-rap records drop the same day, and Matador's This Is Lorelei rounds out the week on the alternative side. Jhené Aiko — Westside Whimsy
Westside Whimsy is Aiko's first full studio album since 2020's Grammy-nominated Chilombo, and her return to Def Jam after a run of looser, more casual releases. The 20-track set splits into 15 solo cuts and five feature-built tracks, with guest spots from Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Larry June, Tyga, and OHMA. Aiko has said the album draws on 1990s West Coast car culture, surfing, and the California upbringing she's built her sound around since her earliest mixtapes.
EST Gee — Bigger Than the Devil
The Louisville rapper's new album arrives through CMG/Interscope as a 17-track project built around survival, loyalty, and self-assessment rather than the pure street-rap ferocity of his earlier tapes. It follows singles "Ya Digg" (featuring SkiMike) and "You Know It" (with 86Snot, EST Spit, and EST4Nikk), plus earlier previews "Sometimes" and "Call Spitta." EST Gee has a European tour booked behind it, running October 14 in Amsterdam through October 30 in Manchester.
Rio Da Yung OG — The World Is Yours
The Flint rapper's 22-track album via M.I.N.E. Entertainment/EMPIRE was largely recorded on the road during his 26-date World Is M.I.N.E. Tour, and the guest list reflects that touring momentum: Veeze, Trippie Redd, Lil Yachty, Tierra Whack, Monaleo, Rylo Rodriguez, YN Jay, Lil Yee, and Judah Weston all appear. It's his most feature-heavy project to date, built off the momentum of lead single "Finna Drop (Tour)."
This Is Lorelei — The Singer in My Band
Nate Amos's This Is Lorelei project follows 2025's Box for Buddy, Box for Star with a new full-length on Matador, continuing the shift from his Water From Your Eyes duo work toward a more direct, singer-songwriter mode. It lands the same week as a run of other indie and electronic releases — Actress's Radical Frame on Ninja Tune among them — that give the alternative side of the week its own throughline.
