The project features collaborations with South African rapper Nasty C, Ghanaian artist King Promise, and rising talents Mavo and Bien. The opening track "RIDER" sets the album's tone, while "STAY OR LEAVE" featuring Nasty C serves as the closing track.

NSG consists of six members: Kruddz (William Awotwe-Mensah), OGD (Dennis Awotwe-Mensah), Papii Abz (Abdul-Jalaal Adeyinka Arowosaye), Dope (Patrick Jim Brew), Mxjib (Ayodeji Mujib Shekoni), and Mojo (Matthew Temidayo Ojo). The group formed in the early 2010s after meeting at Islington Arts & Media School.

The collective previously achieved mainstream success with 2019's "Options" featuring Tion Wayne, which peaked at number seven on the UK Singles Chart. They released their debut album Area Boyz in October 2023 and their mixtape Roots in June 2020.

NSG became the first act to reach number one on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart when the chart launched in July 2020 with their track "Grandad."

Sounds of the Diaspora is available on major streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, and Audiomack.
