OpenAI is in early talks to raise at least $30 billion in a new financing round that would value the company at roughly $1.4 trillion before the new capital is counted, Bloomberg first reported on Sept. 29, 2026. The figure marks a 64% jump from the $852 billion valuation OpenAI carried after its March 2026 round, which closed with $122 billion in committed capital.
The new round is structured as bridge financing rather than an IPO step, according to the report, a path that keeps OpenAI private for now. Terms are still early and could change before anything is finalized. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters, which separately reported on the company's financial trajectory.
Reuters reported that OpenAI's annualized revenue run rate is approaching $70 billion, up more than 70% since the start of the third quarter of 2026. That growth comes as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman ruled out taking the company public in 2026, citing ongoing AI safety work as a reason to stay private for now.
The bridge round would be OpenAI's second major capital raise of 2026. The March round's $122 billion in committed capital was already among the largest private financings on record, and a $30 billion bridge at a $1.4 trillion valuation would push OpenAI's total 2026 fundraising well past that mark without requiring the public markets scrutiny that an IPO would bring.
