Principal / Staff Product Manager, Infrastructure & Developer Platform — Partly

Partly is building the AI infrastructure layer for the global automotive parts industry. This role owns Partly Rails — the transactional backbone orchestrating the full job lifecycle — as an end-to-end product, plus the external API program and developer ecosystem that turns Partly's infrastructure into a platform others build on.

  • Company: Partly
  • Location: Christchurch, New Zealand (office-first; relocation assistance available)
  • Compensation: Not disclosed
  • Type: Full-time
  • Closes: July 2, 2026

About the role

This is a platform-product role with two mandates: keep the core job flow — estimation, procurement, reconciliation, close — principled, auditable, and scalable; and build the external developer program, from portal and docs to partner ecosystem and the agentic evolution of the API. You'll be the single accountable owner of Partly's infrastructure and developer platform.

What you'll do

  • Define and evolve the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Partly's infrastructure and developer platform.
  • Own the metrics for the Rails transaction layer and developer-ecosystem growth, and use them to steer decisions.
  • Keep direct weekly contact with integration partners and developers as a core input to prioritization.
  • Build and ship — prototype API experiences, docs flows, and developer tooling yourself with AI-assisted development.
  • Design APIs and instrumentation for agentic/LLM consumption, including reliability, observability, and graceful failure.
  • Set the standard for API design, documentation quality, and developer experience, communicating roadmap and deprecation decisions early.

Your profile

  • Proven experience owning developer-facing API products (design, versioning, governance, lifecycle management).
  • Practical experience building or scaling a developer ecosystem — partner programs, integration networks, or developer communities.
  • Deep understanding of developer experience as a product discipline (onboarding, docs, tooling).
  • Commercial and technical depth — credible with engineers on API architecture, fluent translating developer needs to business outcomes.
  • 5+ years owning platform/infrastructure products with accountability for adoption metrics, not just delivery.
  • Builds rapid prototypes yourself with AI-assisted/LLM tools as a first instinct. Bonus: agentic API design; transactional/workflow APIs in payments, logistics, supply chain, or insurance; ISV/partner programs; automotive aftermarket or claims domain knowledge.
