The Seattle Seahawks have until May 1 to exercise fifth-year options on wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and cornerback Devon Witherspoon, both first-round picks from the 2023 draft. The NFL announced the option values Friday. Smith-Njigba's fifth-year option is set at $23,852,000; Witherspoon's is $21,161,000, the highest possible tier for a player who has made at least two Pro Bowls in his first three seasons.
Both players are coming off All-Pro seasons with the Seahawks, who won Super Bowl LX this past February. Smith-Njigba led the NFL in receiving yards in 2025 and won the Offensive Player of the Year award. Witherspoon earned his second straight Pro Bowl selection and posted a 90.1 PFF grade at cornerback. The Seahawks have already stated their intent to work out long-term extensions with both players this offseason. Seattle followed through on the Witherspoon half of that plan, signing the cornerback to a four-year, $132 million extension.
Exercising the fifth-year options would keep both players under contract through the 2027 season at fully guaranteed salaries, triggering an NFL funding rule that requires the team to place approximately $45 million in escrow. Seattle has roughly $73 million in cap space heading into the offseason. The deadline to exercise or decline the options is May 1.
