Apple developing AI wearable pin

Apple's rumored AI pin — a circular, AirTag-sized wearable with dual cameras and three mics — could ship in 2027 running a Gemini-powered Siri, marking Apple's first product built entirely around artificial intelligence.

Apple is developing an AI-powered wearable pin approximately the size of an AirTag, according to a report from The Information published Tuesday. The device features a thin, flat, circular design with an aluminum and glass shell. It includes two cameras (standard and wide-angle), three microphones, a built-in speaker, a physical control button, and wireless charging capability similar to the Apple Watch. The AI pin is expected to run a new Siri chatbot that Apple plans to unveil with iOS 27. The revamped Siri, internally codenamed "Campos," will be powered by Google's Gemini AI models. The development brings closer the scenario depicted in Spike Jonze's 2013 film "Her," where Joaquin Phoenix's character develops a relationship with an AI operating system voiced by Scarlett Johansson. The film's vision of always-available, conversational AI assistants has moved from science fiction toward commercial reality as companies develop wearable AI devices for constant interaction. Development is in early stages and the project could be canceled before launch. If released, the device could arrive as early as 2027. Apple reportedly plans to produce approximately 20 million units at launch. It remains unclear whether Apple will sell the pin as a standalone product or bundle it with future devices such as smart glasses. The current prototype does not have a built-in attachment method, though this could change during development. The pin would mark Apple's first product built primarily around artificial intelligence. Multiple technology companies are developing AI wearables, including OpenAI's collaboration with Jony Ive on an AI device, Meta's AI glasses, and Amazon's Bee bracelet. Apple has not publicly commented on the project.
