Arsenal defeated Bournemouth 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium on January 3 to extend their winning streak to five matches and move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. Declan Rice scored twice in the second half to secure the victory after returning from a swollen knee injury that kept him out of the previous match against Aston Villa.
Evanilson put Bournemouth ahead in the 10th minute, but Gabriel scored six minutes later by equalizing. Rice broke the deadlock in the 54th minute off a Martin Ødegaard pass before doubling the lead in the 71st minute with assistance from substitute Bukayo Saka. Eli Junior Kroupi's long-range strike in the 76th minute made for a tense finish, but Arsenal held on for the three points. The win increased Arsenal's advantage over second-place Manchester City to seven points.
