Key Points

  • The 4,104-piece LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear (42232) costs $449.99.
  • It reaches LEGO Insiders July 1 and general sale July 4, 2026.
  • It debuts three series firsts: Ghost Mode, a 9-speed sequential gearbox, and Triplex suspension.
  • A life-size LEGO build hit 111 km/h at Goodwood, doubling the prior drivable-LEGO record.

LEGO's Technic line has spent years courting the adult buyer who wants an engineering project, not a toy. The new Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar — set 42232, 4,104 pieces, $449.99 — is the clearest statement of that yet: the sixth and largest entry in the Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series, built to be displayed and demonstrated rather than parked on a shelf.

What's new in the box

The set introduces three firsts for the series. A working "Ghost Mode" sweeps the doors and front hood open when you lift the rear clam; a 9-speed sequential gearbox and a Triplex front-and-rear suspension system round out the functional upgrades. It reaches LEGO Insiders members on July 1 before going on general sale July 4.

The 111 km/h stunt

To launch it, LEGO and Koenigsegg built a drivable, life-size version from 327,906 LEGO elements — roughly 1,800 kg in total, about 400 kg of it brick, and more than 9,400 hours of design and construction. Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh, who has set records in the real cars, ran it up the Goodwood hillclimb at 111 km/h (69 mph), more than doubling the previous drivable-LEGO record of 50 km/h. It is the kind of marketing only LEGO can do — turning a product launch into a genuine engineering feat, the same instinct behind its adult-targeted builds like the Mario Kart Mach 8 set.
