Key Points

  • Meshy raised nearly $400 million in Series B funding at a $1.5 billion valuation.
  • It is the largest round to date for a company built specifically for AI 3D.
  • The startup's revenue is growing 12x year over year across 12 million users.
  • IDG Capital, Matrix Partners China, and Monolith Management led the round.

Meshy, the Sunnyvale startup building foundation models for AI-generated 3D, has raised nearly $400 million in a Series B round at a $1.5 billion valuation — the largest financing to date for a company built specifically for AI 3D, and Meshy's first publicly disclosed valuation, the company announced on July 21. The round was led by IDG Capital, Matrix Partners China, and Monolith Management, with existing backers including Granite Asia, Sequoia China, BAI Capital, and Source Code Capital oversubscribing their allocations.

Meshy's product turns a text description or a single image into a usable 3D model in about a minute for roughly a dollar — work that previously took specialized skills, expensive software, and weeks. That speed has produced unusual revenue traction for the category: the company says annual recurring revenue is growing about 12x year over year, with more than 12 million registered users who have created over 100 million 3D models.

Alongside the raise, Meshy rolled out a batch of product updates aimed at professional pipelines: a Meshy 3D Agent that handles creation end to end, an Auto Split tool that one-click-separates a model into parts for 3D printing, Smart Topology for cleaner native geometry in about ten seconds, and 8K texture generation. The company said the new capital will go primarily toward research on its multimodal models and global market expansion.

The round extends a summer of outsized AI financings. In the past week alone, Fireworks AI raised $1.5 billion at a $17.5 billion valuation, Walden Robotics closed a $300 million seed with Toyota backing, and Taktile raised a $110 million Series C led by Goldman Sachs. Meshy positions generative 3D as the raw material for games, film and virtual production, product design, and the spatial-computing hardware Apple and Meta are pushing — the sectors its models target.
