The 25-year-old winger clutched the upper part of his left leg and required on-field treatment before being replaced by Randal Kolo Muani. Early indications point to a muscular issue, with concerns centered on a possible adductor problem. The injury arrives at a particularly difficult moment for Tottenham, coming just two days after the club completed the £35 million sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace. Johnson, who was Spurs' top goalscorer across all competitions last season, had served as the primary backup to Kudus on the right wing.
His departure leaves Tottenham without a natural right winger in the first-team squad. Kudus has been a fixture in Thomas Frank's lineup since his £55 million summer transfer from West Ham United, starting all but one Premier League match this season. The attacking midfielder has contributed two goals and six assists in 18 league appearances while establishing himself as one of Frank's key players.
He had started all nine of Tottenham's most recent Premier League matches before the injury. Speaking after the match, Frank defended the decision to sell Johnson despite the timing. "Decisions are made, and decisions I'm backing in every aspect," Frank said. "We took the decision before Mo got injured, we don't know how it looks like. Sometimes when you take that decision, sometimes you can't delay them if you want to." Tottenham has not disclosed a timeline for Kudus's return or provided details about the severity of the injury.
