Movado, known for its minimalist and iconic watch designs, has teamed up with Brooklyn-based artist Derrick Adams to create a one-of-a-kind collection that merges fine art with a functional layout. This limited-edition collection consists of three watches that serve as wearable works of art. Since 1988, Movado has produced watches designed by Yaacov Agam, James Rosenquist, Max Bill, Romero Britto, and Kenny Scharf, and today, Movado announces its thirteenth collaboration in the Artists Series.
Derrick Adams is widely celebrated for using bold colors and geometric shapes to explore cultural, leisure, and Black joy themes. For this collaboration, the watches are inspired by his "Floaters" series—paintings of Black figures relaxing in swimming pools, celebrating leisure moments.
The Movado x Derrick Adams Artists Series Collection comprises five wristwatches based on the classic Museum Dial. From a case perspective, the wristwatches within this collection match at 40mm in diameter and in stainless steel, although with varying ion-plated tones. Each features a different Derrick Adams image printed onto the dial and slimmer hands than found on Movado's standard Museum Dial. A Swiss-made quartz movement powers the entire collection.
