New Balance releases the 950 globally on Wednesday, July 1, for $120. The low-top arrives in two colorways — Angora with Silver Moss and Angora with Shipyard — at NewBalance.com and select retailers.
Built on a leather-and-suede upper with a puffed "N" logo, a basketball tongue label and a wide toe box, the 950 reworks mid-'80s basketball design for off-court wear. WWD reported the silhouette sits close to New Balance's 550 lineage, with a streamlined profile and, on the white debut pair, a pre-yellowed midsole.
Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg fronts the global campaign alongside his brothers. "This campaign means a lot to me because I got to share it with my brothers," Flagg said. "The 950 has become my go-to off the court. It's comfortable, easy to wear, and just fits my style."
The signing is the tell. New Balance has spent the past few years buying its way into basketball relevance, and putting the league's youngest-ever 50-point scorer and reigning Rookie of the Year on a 550-adjacent lifestyle shoe is how the brand converts on-court credibility into the everyday rotation — the same playbook that turned its running archive into a fashion staple.
