Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's third signature collection with New Balance arrived September 8, sold through New Balance and select retailers in unisex sizing. The eight-piece range splits between apparel and footwear. New Balance says she led the creative direction on this one, and her own quote calls it the collection that reflects her creative side "more than ever before."
Three footwear models carry her name: the FuelCell Rebel v5 at $145 in Meteorite/White (style codes WFCX1YQ for women and MFCX8E5 for men), the 9060R at $160 in Meteorite/Podium Red (U90608OL), and the SuperComp MD-X v3 track spike at $170 in Digital Mist/Fresh Air (UELRS9Q7), colorways and codes as listed by Sole Retriever. The three cover a daily trainer, a lifestyle silhouette, and a competition spike.
The apparel runs five styles — the Define Fitted Tank, the Define High Rise Legging, the Athletics Crafted Pant, the Athletics Crafted Crew, and a Dress — built from supportive stretch knits, structured French terry and more general lifestyle constructions. New Balance did not publish apparel pricing in its announcement.
Her hand on the design
New Balance's announcement, issued August 25, puts McLaughlin-Levrone at the center of the process. "Designing my third Signature Collection allowed me to tap into the things I genuinely love to wear every day," she said. "This collection reflects my creative side more than ever before."
Kara O'Malley, a senior merchant in product creation at New Balance, said the involvement ran the length of the project: "From concept through final product, Sydney has been deeply involved in shaping this collection every step of the way." The detail that backs the claim is on the shoe itself — the 9060R carries her script signature printed across the sockliner, visible only once the shoe is off.
New Balance has released other athlete- and artist-led signature product this year: Action Bronson's first signature shoe, the 2811; the 950 built with Cooper Flagg; and Jack Harlow's T500 "Olmsted," which released September 4.
