Scout Motors revealed the "Pacific Mist" Traveler concept, a California coast-inspired variation of its upcoming electric SUV.
The concept features a hand-developed paint finish that shifts from silver to blue depending on light conditions. The three-stage, multi-layer coating was created by Scout's in-house design team. Director of Color, Materials, and Finish Design Aileen Barraza cited "the mist that rises when waves crash into the Pacific Coast cliffs" as inspiration.
The Pacific Mist concept rides on 22-inch blacked-out wheels wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. Additional exterior features include black door handles and a black roof panel that creates a floating-roof effect. The interior uses brick red leather with denim-inspired accents.
Scout replaced the traditional spare tire with a modular rear carrier storage system. The "backpack" unit contains two compartments for wet and dry storage.
The concept runs Scout's Harvester range-extended electric powertrain. The system pairs a 63 kWh battery with a four-cylinder engine that acts as a generator. Pure electric range is projected at 350+ miles, with total range exceeding 500 miles when using the generator.
Scout reports that 85% of its 150,000+ reservation holders selected the Harvester EREV option over the pure electric version.
Production of the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup begins in 2027 at Scout's South Carolina facility. Base models start under $60,000. Reservations are open with a $100 refundable deposit.
