Steven Smith Reinvents the Clog: The Crocs Ripple Is Here

The man behind the New Balance 574, the Reebok Instapump Fury, and the Yeezy Boost 700 just dropped his first shoe at Crocs. Today, the Crocs Ripple gets its global release — and it's not what you'd expect.

Steven Smith joined Crocs in late 2024 as head of creative innovation. The Ripple is his debut silhouette for the brand, and it's a deliberate departure from everything the Classic Clog represents. No heel strap. No traditional lacing. Instead, Smith built off a sneaker last — meaning the fit behaves like a sneaker while the construction stays fully molded. The result is something in between: not a clog, not quite a sneaker, but a shoe that makes a strong case for a category that didn't really exist before today.

The design element that stands out immediately is the concentric oval patterning along the sidewalls — a ripple effect that reads more like wearable sculpture than footwear. Smith used Crocs' proprietary Mellow foam throughout, added a TPU shank in the midfoot for stability, and kept branding minimal so the form does the work. It's a show-don't-tell design from someone who has been disrupting categories for 40 years.

The debut colorway is Moonlight/Neon Ocean — a white-and-blue palette that hits clean. Price is $90, available now at Crocs.com and select retailers in unisex sizing.

What Smith is building at Crocs is worth tracking. He's been given creative freedom and the backing of one of the most culturally relevant comfort brands on the planet.
