Westside Gunn's next Saucony collaboration, the Grid Jazz 9 "Awesome Gods," releases Friday, August 28 for $225 under style code S71047-5. It arrives in unisex sizing through Saucony's EQL raffle, the rapper's own blientele.com and select Saucony retailers, per Sneaker Bar Detroit.

What is on the shoe

Cheetah, zebra, cow and other faux pony hair patterns are spread across the upper, with pink and yellow accents around the Saucony logos, tongue, heel and toe. Leather moccasin-style laces replace standard flat cord. The midsole and heel clip are finished in off-white with a gold accent at the heel.

Griselda branding appears on the heels, insoles and hangtags through the label's scorpion logo. The press images show the wordmark embossed on one sockliner and the scorpion on the other. The pair ships in special packaging with a mirror set into the lid.

Because the materials are cut differently from pair to pair, no two versions look exactly the same. Westside Gunn referenced Jeremy Scott's adidas work and the animal-print-heavy atmos Nike Air Max collaborations, according to Sneaker Bar Detroit.

Westside Gunn Day

August 28 is a date recognized locally as Westside Gunn Day in Buffalo, New York, and the collaboration is timed to land on it. Gunn, born Alvin Worthy, founded Griselda Records in Buffalo with his brother Conway the Machine and cousin Benny the Butcher. The label's scorpion logo appears on this pair's heels, insoles and hangtags.

Fat Joe's Terror Squad imprint has its own Nike release on deck, with the Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1 "University Red" moving to September 9 at $150. On the broader August calendar, the Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 "Air Ecstasy" arrived August 27 at $180, and Nike's One Piece Air Max Plus "Devil Fruits" collection follows on September 25. The drop also leads today's Daily Roundup.
