Key Points

  • The Air Jordan 4 "Birds of Paradise" releases July 23 for $220, style code HV0823-101
  • The colorway pairs a Coconut Milk upper with Metallic Gold, Muslin, Bright Mango, Sundial, and Black
  • A semi-translucent Bright Mango and Sundial outsole evokes the blooming plant
  • It is a general release offered in women's sizing only

Jordan Brand is sending one of its most expressive Air Jordan 4 makeups of the year out in women's sizing only. The Air Jordan 4 "Birds of Paradise" (HV0823-101) arrives July 23 for $220, trading the silhouette's usual sport palette for a tropical one named after the flower it imitates.

What's dropping

The colorway runs Coconut Milk across the upper with Metallic Gold, Muslin, Sundial, Bright Mango, and Black accents. The signature detail is the outsole: semi-translucent rubber mixing Bright Mango and Sundial, meant to read like a Bird of Paradise plant mid-bloom. Everything else is standard AJ4 — the visible heel Air unit, mesh side netting, TPU wings, and the molded outsole that has carried the model since 1989. It is a general release rather than a limited one, with a wide rollout expected at Nike.com, Foot Locker, and Finish Line.

The women's read

The story isn't the palette; it's the sizing. Routing a marquee, design-forward AJ4 colorway through women's-only sizing is the same move Jordan Brand made when it handed one of the Air Jordan 11's first sanctioned collaborations to its women's banner JAIDE. The brand is putting its most expressive, story-driven makeups where the category is growing fastest, and treating the women's buyer as the audience for its design swings rather than an afterthought scaled down from a men's run. Nike is making the same bet across the aisle: its women's-exclusive First Sight Shadow "Metallic Silver" lands July 24, the day after this AJ4, as part of the same summer run of women's-sizing drops.

It also lands in a heavy AJ4 year. The model has already carried the "Toro Bravo" retro and A Ma Manière's "Built For This" collaboration, and "Birds of Paradise" is the rare general release that uses the AJ4 as a canvas for a fully thematic, nature-referencing concept rather than a straight color swap.

The silhouette's busy calendar isn't slowing down, either: the Air Jordan 4 "Comic" follows just two days later, releasing July 25 for $230.
