Memorial Day delivers two conference finals tipping at the same time, both with the series in the balance. The Knicks can finish a sweep and reach their first NBA Finals since 1999. The Hurricanes and Canadiens play a Game 3 that breaks a 1-1 East Final open one way or the other. ESPN runs primetime baseball on both ends of the day, and the Liberty are at home.
Marquee: Knicks at Cavaliers, Eastern Conference Finals Game 4 (8:00 PM ET, ESPN)
New York leads the series 3-0 and is one win from the Finals for the first time in 27 years. Jalen Brunson is averaging 26 a night on 47 percent shooting and the Knicks' switch-everything defense has held up across three games. Donovan Mitchell is averaging 28 for Cleveland and is the only Cav who has shown up consistently. The Cavs were a 64-win team in the regular season. They are now playing to avoid a sweep at home and need someone besides Mitchell to make shots. The game opens at 8 ET on ESPN.
Vegas line: New York -2.5, total 218.5, moneyline NY -135 / CLE +114 (ESPN BET).
Also tonight
- Hurricanes at Canadiens (8:00 PM ET, TNT). Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Final Game 3, series tied 1-1. Montreal stole Game 1 in Carolina with a four-goal first period. Carolina answered with an overtime win in Game 2. First game in Montreal flips home ice if the Canadiens hold serve.
- Yankees at Royals (3:40 PM ET, ESPN). Will Warren (3.61 ERA) against Michael Wacha (2.70 ERA) at Kauffman Stadium. Yankees are -140 favorites. Wacha has been one of the steadier arms in the American League this year and the Bronx lineup is the test that says whether the start to his season is real.
- Phillies at Padres (10:40 PM ET, ESPN Unlimited). The late ESPN window. Philadelphia has been carrying the National League East and San Diego is leaning on its rotation to keep pace in the West. Worth flipping over to once the NBA goes final.
- Portland at New York Liberty (8:00 PM ET, Peacock). The defending champions on Peacock. Liberty are still building chemistry around their core in the early weeks of the season and a national broadcast is a chance for the rest of the league to see where they are.
- Connecticut at Golden State Valkyries (10:00 PM ET, WNBA League Pass). The Valkyries' first season is a real story. League Pass only, but worth tuning in for one of the few new pro franchises in the country.
The night belongs to the East. By midnight ET you will know whether the Knicks are headed to the Finals and whether Carolina or Montreal has the upper hand in the other conference final. The complete slate, every channel, one page is at watch.uristocrat.com.
