The Dallas Mavericks have traded Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster eight-player transaction, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Dallas sends Anthony Davis, Jaden Hardy, D'Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum to Washington. The Mavericks receive Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, two first-round picks, and three second-round picks.
The first-round selections are Oklahoma City's 2026 pick and Golden State's top-20-protected 2030 pick. The second-rounders are Phoenix's 2026 selection, Chicago's 2027 pick, and Houston's 2029 pick.
Davis played 29 games for Dallas since arriving in the February 2025 trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers. He has been sidelined since early January with ligament damage in his left hand. The 10-time All-Star is owed $58.5 million next season with a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28.
The deal drops Dallas below the luxury tax threshold, generating $57 million in tax savings according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. The Mavericks are 19-31 and currently 12th in the Western Conference.
Washington acquired Trae Young from Atlanta last month. Both Young and Davis are currently injured and unavailable.
