July's slate leaned into wear-tier retros and city makeups. August opened faster than any month this summer and never really slowed down: the Air Jordan 1 "Love Letter," the Flint 13, a debut Kobe Air Force 1 colorway, Giannis Antetokounmpo's Freak 8 and the first Pharrell x adidas Jellyfish all landed August 1. The month closes with 45 tracked pairs, 44 of which released. The back half brought the Laser pack, the Air More Uptempo OG, a Kobe Protro run, and a three-shoe August 29 that included both of the month's real grails. Here's what mattered, then the full dated calendar.
The retro engine
Jordan Brand's heaviest stretch ran the first three weeks. The Air Jordan 1 High OG "Love Letter" ($185) opened the month August 1 alongside the Air Jordan 13 "Flint" ($215), the navy-and-grey colorway's fifth release since 1998. The Air Jordan 13 "Wings" ($215) followed August 6 with a wear-away denim upper, and the Air Jordan 6 "Oreo" ($215) released August 8 alongside the rarely retroed Air Jordan 17 Low "Black Patent" ($245). The Air Jordan 9 Low "What The Kilroy" ($180) arrived August 14, and a women's Air Jordan 3 "Sports Renaissance" ($205) followed August 15. The Laser pairing landed August 22: the Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Laser" ($145) and the Air Jordan 3 "Laser" ($230), a Michael Jordan 2003 player-exclusive turned general release.
The signatures
Basketball's signature calendar stayed active all month. The Nike Kobe Air Force 1 Low returned in a Vast Grey and Electric Green makeup ($125) on August 1, the same day Giannis Antetokounmpo debuted his Freak 8 "Buckitos" ($115). Paige Bueckers' Nike GT Cut 4 "Shirley Buckets" ($210) went from player edition to general release on August 5, and LeBron James' LeBron 23 "Hardwood Classic" ($210) followed August 7. Devin Booker's Book 2 got its "Eggplant Foamposite" colorway ($155) on August 10, the same day as the Nike Sabrina 4 "Nike Nationals" ($135). Ja Morant introduced his fourth signature shoe, the Ja 4 "Nightmare" ($130), on August 13 — his first release since being traded from Memphis to Portland — with a "NY vs. NY" Ja 4 ($140) two days later. Kobe Protros ran through the back half: a "Dodgers" Kobe 5 Protro ($190) landed August 15 and the Kobe 10 Protro "Halo" ($200) followed August 23, Bryant's birthday and the anchor date for Nike's annual Halo series.
Collaborations
Pharrell's adidas Jellyfish made two separate appearances: a Core White colorway opened the month on August 1, and a second pair — priced the same $300 — followed on August 15. Free The Youth, the Ghanaian collective based in Tema, released its Air Jordan 16 SP ($255) through its own site on August 1 and took it global on August 15 through SNKRS; the campaign was shot on handbuilt sets drawn from Ghanaian architecture and prints. JJJJound's New Balance 740 "Stoneware" ($130) landed August 6, Hellstar's adidas Megaride S2 ($200) on August 8, and Larry June's adidas Adistar Control 5 ($160) got a public release August 15 after circulating as a friends-and-family pair. The last week was the densest: Westside Gunn's Saucony Grid Jazz 9 "Awesome Gods" ($225) arrived August 28 on what Buffalo marks as Westside Gunn Day, both Awake NY x Air Jordan 6 colorways — the "Playful Pink" and the "Midnight Navy" ($230 each) — went wide August 29 after an August 23 raffle on Awake's own site, Bad Bunny's adidas F50 Ghost Sprint returned in a new colorway ($160) the same day, and Kith closed the month August 31 with a denim adidas Samba.
Callbacks
The Nike Air Foamposite Pro returned in its original "Green Camo" on August 14, its first retro since 2013. The Reebok G-Unit G6 came back August 20 in a 1:1 recreation of its 2003 colorway, the Nike Air More Uptempo '96 OG "Black/White" returned August 21 on the silhouette Scottie Pippen wore through Chicago's 72-10 season, and the Nike Shox BB4 OG closed the run on August 28 in Vince Carter's "Black/Lapis" — the first reissue of that colorway since 2019.
The month's two grails
Two real grails shared a release date. August 29 brought both the Air Jordan 8 "Chrome" ($215), its first retro since 2015, and the Air Jordan 9 OG "Space Jam" ($215), the latter arriving in commemorative packaging for the film's anniversary. The 9 is the shoe Michael Jordan never played in — it launched during his baseball hiatus — which gives its retros a different weight than the on-court models, and the white/true red/black "Space Jam" is its cleanest OG expression.

Forty-four of the month's 45 tracked drops released; only the Kobe 3 Low Protro "Atomic Pink" never got a date. Pharrell's adidas Jellyfish, Free The Youth's Air Jordan 16 and the Awake NY 6 each appear twice — the Jellyfish in two colorways, the 16 through a site exclusive on August 1 and a global release on August 15, the Awake 6 through an August 23 raffle before its August 29 wide release.
